The holidays are just around the corner and Giving Children Hope is working hard with Santa’s elves to ensure each child enrolled in We’ve Got Your Back (and their siblings) enjoys a magical holiday season.

As a part of Santa’s special workforce, volunteers from around the county came to help select and wrap presents for each child based on their wish lists.

Check out the video of Santa’s lesser-known workshop in Buena Park and all the volunteer elves who gave a helping hand to wrap thousands of gifts!

On November 20, more than 150 volunteers swarmed the Giving Children Hope facility to lend a helping hand in the Family Volunteer Event.

Families and individuals helped to pack backpacks, assemble housewares, sort medical supplies and much more! Tasks completed in these four hours helped to alleviate weeks of work!

We are extremely grateful for the hard work and support displayed by all in attendance!

Giving Children Hope is dedicated to providing holiday gifts to every child enrolled in the We’ve Got Your Back program and their siblings. For these children, the holidays may not be filled with the magic often experienced. To help meet the goal of providing each child with the perfect gift, Toys for Tots donated 1,000 toys.

Thank you, Toys for Tots, for helping to spread the holiday magic to homeless children throughout Orange County!

It’s December and Christmas festivities are in full swing! The staff is preparing for the “We’ve Got Your Back Annual Toy Drive”:[~2203~], holiday fundraisers, Christmas mixers and parties, and the “free AMP Christmas Concert”:[~2286~]. It’s a busy time for the staff, but the Christmas music being streamed in the background keep our spirits and energy up. We still need to decorate our office too- want to help us make our place look festive? Let “Drew”:mailto:dbryson@godaid.org know! We would love to have volunteers spruce up the place for the holidays.

Some things that have been going on:

- Our facilities have been improved thanks to a donation by Nutrilite! The place looks beautiful; we would love for you to visit us!
- We are working to hire additional staff to start 2011 with a bang
- We are closed for a week during December. It gives the staff a chance to spend time with their families and catch up on some much-needed rest!

We definitely don’t want to get so lost in busyness and forget why we celebrate Christmas in the first place: the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. So if you find yourself getting lost in the minutia this season, take some time to sit, be still and remember the birth of the Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This semester, five California State University, Long Beach students were assigned the task to present an in-depth report about a local nonprofit. Interviews with staff and board members must be conducted, a thorough understanding of the organization is essential and a professional presentation must be delivered.

Former intern, Amber Anderson, alongside four classmates from CSULB’s Nonprofit & Volunteer Management course presented Giving Children Hope for their class project. After each group’s presentation, a “winner” was selected by the course professor, Joanne Conley.

Giving Children Hope was selected by Conley as the winner of the presentation contest and sent a $50 check in honor of the winning team.

Thank you CSULB students and Professor Conley for your support!
