Timken first heard of Giving Children Hope and the local programs through the Orange County United Way. After finding more information about the We’ve Got Your back program, they were inspired to get involved.
GCHope has been a partner of the Orange County United Way since 2006. This partnership has led to wonderful opportunities for the We’ve Got Your Back program and has helped the GCHope staff develop some truly great relationships. This is no different with Timken.
A team of Timken volunteers came to the GCHope facility to help sort canned food items, fill backpacks, correct nutrition-focused homework assignments and award prizes to those completed correctly.
While volunteering the Timken team let us know that, in addition to their volunteer services, they pre-approved a $2,500 grant toward We’ve Got Your Back! This grant will allow 10 more children enroll in the program!
Thank you, Timken, for your volunteerism, your dedication to the local community, and your investment in the lives of homeless school children in Orange County! We are extremely grateful!
The wonderful family at the Dhont Family Foundation just offered Giving Children Hope a $30,000 matching grant for We’ve Got Your Back!
We need your help! You have the unique opportunity to double your impact and feed more homeless children in Orange County! We need to raise $30,000 to help us receive the matching grant!
Make sure you make your online donation at “www.wgyb.org” in order to double your donation. Your support will be matched, dollar-for-dollar by the Dhont Family Foundation! You may also mail or deliver donations to the offices at 8332 Commonwealth Ave., Buena Park, CA 90621. Please make checks payable to Giving Children Hope with “WGYB” in the memo.
For the last two years you helped us match Dhont’s $25,000 matching grant and we know we can meet this goal together, too. In total, Dhont donated $50,000 to We’ve Got Your Back! Giving Children Hope is grateful to the Dhont Family Foundation for their contribution and dedication to Orange County’s homeless children.
We’ve Got Your Back is our weekend nutrition program created by Giving Children hope for elementary students in the Orange Unified School District who have been identified as “homeless” under the McKinney-Vento act.
The Dhont Family Foundation was founded in 1998 and helps fund local projects in Southern California.
Holidays are just around the corner and this holiday season, we are giving Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas presents and toys to the kids enrolled in our We’ve Got Your Back program and we need your help!
There are a number of ways for you to be involved: 1) Host a food drive for Thanksgiving-type food items (see flier below); 2) You can host a toy drive to collect new and unwrapped toys; 3) You can sponsor a wish list of a child. All items will be under $25; 4) You can participate in one of our Wrapping Parties. The dates for these are Monday 12/12 6-9pm , Tuesday 12/13 1-4pm, Wednesday 12/14 1-4 pm and Thursday 12/15 6-9pm.
All of this will take place at the Giving Children Hope facility: 8332 Commonwealth Ave. Buena Park, CA 90621.

*Thanksgiving Food Drive Items:*
Offering an entire day of service, the wonderful and fun-loving volunteers from ADP spent their time supporting Giving Children Hope’s local programs.
The team began its volunteer day by helping to sort housewares, test appliances and assemble various household items. These items were then placed into the Giving For Living and Missionary Program to benefit local nonprofit partners and the communities they each serve.
Shortly after a lunch break, the team then gathered in the warehouse to assist with the We’ve Got Your Back program to help feed children identified as homeless in Orange County. The group helped to sort canned food items, stuff backpacks with nutritious foods, prepare rolling carts for distribution and helped the GCHope team get on track for new school year.
We are so thankful for the full day of support you all gave. Thank you so much for your assistance (and a few good laughs)!
