On November 28th, 2007, Senior Pastor of “Saddleback Church”:http://www.saddlebackchurch.com, Rick Warren, welcomed over 1,000 attendees to the “2007 Global Summit on AIDS and the Church”:http://www.purposedriven.com/en-US/HIVAIDSCommunity/GlobalConference/Initiative.htm. Over four days, the Summit on AIDS and the Church will serve to bring awareness and encourage advocacy on behalf of those suffering from “HIV/AIDS”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HIV/AIDS around the world.
Pastor Rick Warren stressed the importance of the “three-legged stool,” pulic, profit, and parish, when it comes to successfully combatting the HIV/AIDS crisis. The goal of the Summit is to bring leaders from all three sectors together to coordinate their efforts in fight against AIDS.
Giving Children Hope is among a handful of non-governmental organizations “(NGO’s)”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NGO featured in the Summit’s “Resource Tent,” a place where attendees can gain information on how to get involved in the cause and tangibly make a difference in communities affected by HIV/AIDS.
Through health care development and “micro-enterprise”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro-enterprise programs, Giving Children Hope works in parternship to bring hope to HIV/AIDS stricken communities. Giving Children Hope is a proud partner of Saddleback Church, working together to ship container of medical aid to countries such as Ukraine and Kenya.
